@LanteanKnight Considering Jesus was God, he was more than a walking hospital. He could do whatever the fuck he wanted. And the point is to compare the times, he's comparing modern American Christians and Jesus, and showing how contradictory they are.

"That time", as you put it, was worse even than now.
There was no welfare safety net, and any kind of healthcare certainly wasn't free.
According to the unfounded story, Jesus gave of his time to heal sick people for no money whatsoever. Just because it was the right thing to do.
ANY country that fails to enact that principle of universal healthcare for its citizens isn't a proper country at all. Just a random assortment of people fighting each other to survive.

That's not the point of the video.
If anything, it shows a lack of correlation between heartless Capitalism and what Jesus actually supposedly stood for. It could have been made by a compassionate Christian.
The atheists and humanists here are just pointing that out. How come most Christians are right wing and would sell their own grannies for a profit - completely the opposite of what Jesus would do?

It's hard to pin down Jesus on specifics because of contradictions between the gospels. But you can make a generalization: He told one rich man to give all of his money to the poor to get into heaven and told another to give half of his money to the poor. I suppose you could translate that into a 50% tax rate for the rich. Not bad, for a start.

We don't nationalize food because the vast majority of people can afford food unlike healthcare. Besides, the government does hand out food stamps to people who really cant buy food.
